Riad Dar Zaouia

In the heart of the Old Medina near the historic Bahia Palace and Dar Si Said Museum, tucked just a stroll away from the famous Jemaa el-Fna square, is the latest addition to the Angsana Riads Collection: the Riad Dar Zaouia. With a name that means "a place of retreat" in Arabic, Riad Dar Zaouia was built on an old zaouia, a religious school. The former spritual and social centre still emanates the serenity and convivality of its previous incarnation, and calls to those seeking an intimate retreat in a quiet place of refined, relaxed elegance. This lovely, aristocratic 19th-century mansion has since been gently restored to its former glory, using traditional techniques and the talents of local craftsmen and artisans.
