Leishan county in Guizhou province takes its name from Leigong Mountain, the main peak of the Miaoling Mountains. Situated 184km from Guiyang and 42km from Kaili, Leishan is surrounded by lush greenery in old-growth forest. It was featured in CCTV's "Top 10 List of the Most Interesting Tourist Spots in China", and honoured with the title of "Best Tourist Destination in China" at the World Tourism Elites Boao Summit of 2009.

Leishan's historical Miao town of Xijiang is one of the most famous historical towns in China. It is home to several Miao ethnic villages, including Xijiang Qianhu Miao Zhai, which was selected as a "Chinese Landscape Village" by the China Society of Territorial Economists.

The wooden-stilts design of Angsana Leishan Guizhou draws inspiration from the local architecture of the surrounding Miao Villages, with decorations inspired by traditional Miao embroidery.
